WHY OWN A CLUB IF YOUR NOT GOING TO PROMOTE IT?
by Rich Unger
I have never, ever, seen so many club owners simply become complacent
and lay over, play dead and allow their competition to simply roll over
them. My question is why?
Why own a club, pay your staff, order liquor and beer, pay the rent,
pay the utilities, pay the insurance, and simply linger and lay there?
What good is your club if it is dead? What good is your bar, your
lounge, your restaurant if it is dead?
I repeat for the 200,000th time, in today's food and beverage world,
the patron wants more than a drink special and good jams, they want
PROMOTIONS.
Top Ten Excuses For Not Promoting:
- We can't afford it.
- Why should we, it won't work anyway?
- I don't want to put that much effort into any promotion
- We don't need promotions.
- Promotions are a waste of time and money and energy.
- We are not that type of club.
- Our patrons don't care about promotions.
- We are way too busy on weekends to be concerned with week nights.
- Promotions are a pain in the rear.
- What's a Promotion anyway?
It's no wonder so many clubs never make it, between absentee owners who
have no clue what's going on in their clubs, to managers who don't make
the effort to bring about change and fresh and new concepts, and ideas, and
theme nights, to the patrons, who's loyalty factor is built on the old adage
"what have you done for me lately?"
It never ceases to amaze me how many promotion possibilities most clubs
miss out on. Just this Past August 23rd, I produced and promoted and presented
"Survivor 'The last episode, the last party" the Tribe has spoken Event.
I packed this club inside and out. I had flame dancing natives, I had straw hats and grass skirts on the
employees, every patron who entered got a lei around their neck, the
pig roast, the bamboo flame Poles were lit and the entire place was in the
mode of "SURVIVOR."
I was at the recent Orlando Nightclub & Bar Show, and I must salute
the Producers of the event, they present a first class Show. My gripes are with the exhibitors, so many lacked friendly and gracious
people, here are some eye catching and worth purchasing product web
sites to check out via Richie's Recommends:
www.streamereffects.com
Fantastic hand held streamers and confetti streamers, just a blast to
hold and watch explode safely and soundly
www.medtechgroup.com
Excellent selection of quality and unique wristbands, so many clubs are
having such severe problems with underage patrons trying to get in and
when allowing them in, making sure they don't drink, wristbands are a must.
www.animot.com
The best hot new Product at the show, lighted animated hats, headbands,
jackets, vests, just a blast of a product line.
www.loudini.com
Great bar tricks on tap, you have got to see these magic tricks
designed exclusively for bars and clubs and restaurants
Check these products out, they caught my eye and I thought they were
worthy of mention and exposure from our Site. As for the Seminars, my feelings are, your club is unique and your
Community is unique and you need specific information that is detailed
just for you, your club and your area, paying hundreds of dollars to hear a
qualified speaker speak in generalizations is not the best way to learn
and educate yourself as to what you need to be doing...
Retaining my services gives the club owner the specific and customized promotions, concepts, theme nights, ideas and avenues of income that I
create for them.
