A TRUE STORY OF A PATHETIC NIGHTCLUB OWNER!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Let me start the New Year off, on a negative yet brutally frank account, that is totally factual, and hopefully a wake up call to many Nightclub Owners.  No Names, No Locations, no sense throwing salt on an open wound.............     

I have always been amazed at how Nightclub Owners continue to operate in the same mode week in, week out, not do enough business to warrant even being open, but yet continue to operate?

I recently watched an arrogant, egotistical Owner, who has only been open less than seven months manage his upscale nightclub like a complete idiot.

He talks to his Female Partner like she is dirt.

He treats her like a bastard child...................

He has no handle or grasp on his expenses, he was $3,000. over drawn on his business checking account, he had no Fiscal Responsibility" at all.

He was paying his Valet Service to park his patron's cars, when it's the other way around, the Valet Service pays you for the right to park your customer's cars and profit from the tips.

He ordered liquor and Wine with no hands on procedures for tracking his inventory.

Oh sure he employed Bevinco Bar Systems, and they told him he was at 14% loss , missing or spillage.
The norm is 5%.  14% means you are being robbed blind, either thru over pouring or outright stealing.

So this Brilliant Owner, calls a bartender meeting for Saturday Morning at 10am "Mandatory".  Of course those bartenders who didn't show up, were not fired as threatened, nope, instead they simply kept their jobs.  So, the 14% rate dropped to 12%, based on the pep talk that occurred that Saturday morning.

The service in this club is horrible, because the Owner does not have the "Respect" of his employees, he curses at them, disses them, tells dirty jokes to them and flirts with them.  So they have absolutely no respect or loyalty to him.

He has a 6 piece "house band" that he thought would carry this upscale club four nights a week, well, when the "house band" plays the same songs night after night, in the same rotation, the patrons become bored.
If your going to have a "house band" ,they must, I repeat must learn new songs every week.

Let's see I have briefly covered the valet parking, the bartenders, the servers, the band, ah, the kitchen, he offers gourmet appetizers, but the chef is so slow, that it takes 2 hours to have your gourmet pizza served after you order it.

This Club is an oncoming Train Wreck, the Owner now wants to rip out the kitchen and spend $25,000. on a VIP Room.  A total mistake, a total disaster.  Especially when he doesn't have two nickels to rub together.
When an Owner thinks that HE and HIS club can change the climate and mentality of local night life, it reminds me of the famous remark by the late President Charles DeGalle of France, " The graveyards are full of indispensable men".

The Nightclub Industry is full of closed nightclubs Who's owners thought ," I will change the habits and mindset of my patrons and potential patrons, and they will do as I tell them to".  Wrong and wrong again.  You can't force your flawed and frayed concept on Patrons who know exactly what they want, and how they want it.

I have never seen such an arrogant Owner who along with another investor put over $700,000. in a concept, that had no chance of surviving from the onset.

Why, you ask?

His monthly expenses are out of control.
His staff is out of control.
His format is dull and boring.
His Night by Night offering are horrible.
His Cash Flow is non existent
His attitude is the worst.
His reckless inconsistent mentality excessive overhead, will soon, cost him his club.
And finally, When you drink like a drunk, smoke like an addict in front of your patrons and employees,  and your the Owner, you have zero chances of your club making it.

If your an Owner and any part of your style, attitude or behavior reflects what I have described, I urge you to take a long hard look at yourself and clean up your act.

The first step is calling me !
