HAPPY NEW PROMOTIONS
By Rich Unger

It's 2002, and I have my new Nightclub Resolutions just for you.

This is not about stop smoking, losing weight, or being a better person and not cursing and treating people with respect and resound.  Nope, I hope you do all of the above, nope, this is about, your Nightclub and it's Resolutions for you to do..................

  1. From now on, make your radio spots focus on one night, one promotions, one event, stop trying to squeeze so much content into one-sixty-second spot or even one-thirty-second spot, the listener can't comprehend all the information you are trying to convey and your wasting your money and a perfectly good radio spot.
  2. Stop running institutional ads in the newspaper, the days of simply putting your name, address, a logo and a slogan are over, done with, from now on, make it an eye popping, effective efficient ad, that readers will respond to.
  3. Stop cutting corners on your club's bells and whistles, the days and nights of simply having a hot DJ and packing the club are over, it's time to play hardball and bring in the big boys, as in enhancing and expanding your present dance floor and sound, lights, video and effects.  You've been doing a great disservice to your patrons by simply giving them the minimum instead of the maximum.
  4. Promotions, stop relying on club promoters who have their own guest lists, their own faithful followers who have no regard or respect for your club, just the promoter, whom you feel you need in order to pack your club, I say "bunk."  So many Big City Promoters e-mail to say "Club Owners can't survive without us."

    I say nonsense!

Before there were club promoters, there were packed clubs, due to their Owners and Managers and Promotions Managers.

If you own your club, if you manage a club, it is incumbent upon you to do the marketing the promoting, and pack that club.

Why pay an outside promoter who has no loyalty to you, or your club, who has his own crowd, who has an arrogant and ignorant attitude. I say, it's a New Year, and it's time for you to take charge and bring in a loyal, consistent patron base without relying on and being dependent on an outside promoter.  Get with the program and promote!  That's right create your own promotions, promote your own promotions, you can do it, yes you can......
  5. Time to paint those walls, install new carpet, remodel those restrooms, fix the burnt out bulbs in your sign, re-black top that parking lot, replace those chipped glasses, and reupholster those bar stools.
Stop with the whining and excuses, and just do it.
  6. Open more nights, that's right stop depending on 3 Nights a week to support and sustain your overhead and payroll and make you a living.  You can't make money if the doors are closed.  I have never seen a business with so many excuses.  Why have a club if you can't operate it at least 5 nights a week?
Stop blaming your patrons, and start accepting responsibility, you have to give patrons a reason to come to your club, you have to do make your club above and beyond the competition. Is it easy no, but the rewards are worth every bit of your blood sweat and tears. I have the formula, the process and the technique to pack your club every single night your open. Oh yes I do.................
  7. Stop giving away the bar !!! This year stop the panic pricing and giving away liquor and beer simply to do business.  Why give it away, kill your liquor costs and end up making zilch? If your competition is giving away the bar to pack their club, do just the opposite.  That's right counter promote them.....
  8. Stop tolerating rude obnoxious and lazy and undedicated employees, from your door staff to your DJ.  Your Manager should set the tone and example by washing glasses, working the door, jumping behind the bar, spinning the tunes, cleaning the bathrooms, he should show his staff there is no job he won't do.  Any employee who does drugs, should be fired at once, any Manager who knowingly, I said knowingly allows patrons to partake of drugs in the club should be fired. I have zero tolerance for arrogance and ignorance.

If you allow punks and animals in your club, you are their subservant, you are bowing to them, because somewhere in your ill logic, you justify their presence by the revenue they generate.  Stop letting fights break out, and stop the  groping of your Female Patrons,  stop letting these disrespectful, no values, no morals creeps destroy your club.  It's your investment, it's your money, it's your Club.  WAKE UP and WAKE UP NOW!
  9. Mend and bend your relationship with local law enforcement, they are not your enemies, they are your allies.  If you have unsatisfactory relations with them, go down to headquarters and meet with the Chief and nobody else.  It's your club, it's his department, make amends and reach an accord that will satisfy both his concerns and the well-being of your club.
  10. STOP BEING AN ABSENTEE OWNER, how can you have any insight or input as to what is happening and occurring in your Club, when you are not even there, but one or two nights a week?
These are not the times to be depending upon People with no cash investment,  nor vested interest to do the job and not oversee and look over exactly what is going on, who is doing what, and where is the $$$$$ going? Don't let bartenders give away liquor, don't let doormen let patrons in for free, stop looking the other way, and start looking right at it!

FINALLY, IT'S TIME TO CALL ME.  ADMIT IT, you know you need help, direction, strategies, synergy and a blueprint to pack your club, it's time you called me and packed that club, it's up to you, it's 2002, let me guide you and get your club to where it needs to be, on top,  and it's as easy as calling me.

THAT SHOULD YOUR FIRST RESOLUTION OF 2002.
Happy 2002, now the rest is up to YOU.
