WHAT'S OUTSELLING BURGERS AT BURGER CHAINS? And Do You Know What It Takes To Keep Your Patrons?

A recent study cites the dramatic change in the sales of burgers at burger chains.   What is outselling Burgers at Burger Chains you ask?  Breakfast Sandwiches, French Fries, Onion Rings, Chicken Nuggets, Chicken Sandwiches and Hash Browns.

While Chains such as CHECKERS stay in the burger abyss,  most Burger Chains are prospering in the roll out of non burger items.  It simple really, to expand their customer base, they offer more different and enticing items, that they know the mass public will clamor for.  It's a no brainier that the big burger chains added bagels to their breakfast menus.  It doesn't take a rocket Scientist to realize "Onion Rings" are the up and
comer fried taster.

Fast Food Freaks want variety and they want it fast, fried and for cheap.  I direct my Restaurant Clients to make a U Turn and go just the other way.  Non Fried, Non Breaded, Non Red Meat dishes.  The "Sticklers" tender chicken thigh on a stick is a must for any bar, club and resort eatery, as well as any casual dining establishment.

I am a huge "Chicken Champ" of Tyson Foods, Inc.  I am not paid a single penny for any "RICHIE"S RIGHT ON ENDORSEMENT" picks.  I decide based on quality, presentation, taste, and consistency who I bestow
such an honor on.  This business is all about the letter "K," as in killing them with kindness, dazzling them with killer food and beverage, and turning their lights out with knock out music, lights and sound, and finally embracing them with kind bar personnel and kick ass DJ's and bands.

Every Club Owner cries about spending $$$$, every Club Manager complains about all the work, the long hours and the lack of appreciation, every bartender is trying to bed every chick that comes in, every DJ is in his own world with ego and attitude, and that leaves the cocktail servers and doormen who usually hit on each other.

Then there are the people that really truly matter.....THE PATRONS......  

  • Ask yourself what do my patrons want?
  • What is missing day out night in from my operation? 
  • How can I expand my operation without spending a great deal of money?
  • Who can help me change my operation by improving it and enhancing my bottom line? ( hint, hint)
  • Why should I offer my patrons promotions and theme nights and new concepts?
  • Where can I find the ideas, the trends, the rage, the hot off the press information to capitalize on and cash in on?

For me, it's as easy as plotting, preparing, planning, promoting and presenting........and then Packing the house.  I saw a Posting recently on a Nightclub Board, some Owner was asking for help and said "No Theme Night ideas, please" and I thought to myself, why is this guy even own a nightclub, he has no clue as to what it takes to present hot promotions, theme nights and Trendy Events.  No wonder so many clubs fail, and no wonder so many bars and lounges are sold on a regular basis, it's all about people getting into this biz for all the wrong reasons.... Anyone entering this business better have cash flow, better have firsthand
knowledge of exactly what this business is all about, better be able to assume any job within your establishment, in case someone doesn't show up for work.

And you better, I mean better hire or keep close to you, a Promotions Genius, such as myself, because when it's all said and done, if you don't keep your patrons thrilled with great food, great drink, great service, fantastic music, out of this world lights and sound, and knock out promotions, prepare to  hit the canvas for the "TEN" count, as in knock out!

Keeping your Patrons loyal to your club is not an easy task, but it can and is done every day.  I call it "In Your Face Promotions," and by that I mean, presenting promotions that your competition isn't, that your competition wouldn't even think of.

You have got to Promotions Positive and stop making excuses for not putting forth the effort and commitment to presenting Powerful Promotions that go beyond the every night contests and above the once a week Karaoke Krap.

I will never understand the stubbornness of Owners who resist outside help and assistance and would rather lose $$$ and lose patrons?  You have go to be vigilant and dialed in and know what to promote and when to promote it.

It isn't rocket science, but it is a close second.

When will Club Owners learn, stop giving it away to pack the place?  Start presenting "Powerful Promotions," instead and reap the reward of charging regular prices for drinks and entertaining your patrons at the same time.

It's called Keeping your Patrons.
